How to find your content pillars in one afternoon
Three pillars mean you never stare at a blank screen wondering what to post. A simple exercise to find yours.
New creators often post whatever comes to mind and then wonder why their page feels scattered. Content pillars fix that. They are three themes you return to again and again, so people know what to expect from you.
The exercise
- Write down ten things you know well or do often.
- Write down ten things you are curious about and willing to learn in public.
- Circle the topics where the two lists overlap. Those are your best candidates.
- Group them into three themes and give each one a short name.
What a good pillar looks like
- You can think of at least twenty video ideas for it.
- A stranger could understand it in one sentence.
- You would still enjoy it after a hundred videos.
Use them
Put the three names where you will see them. Each week, make at least one video for each pillar. When you are stuck, pick the pillar you have used least.
Creator DNA in the Startell app walks you through this with five questions and gives you your pillars, a series idea and a bio.
Practice it with a daily coach
Startell gives you one short drill a day and a Star Score measured on your phone. Your first drill is free.
